Our Trip to Texas

We’re back from our trip to Texas. We got back on Monday. We had such a fun time visiting with my family :0) We flew out on Thursday, October 19th. We found out the day before that Nicholas had an ear infection in both ears! This trip he reversed it…he usually comes home with an ear infection. We were pretty worried about Nick’s ears bothering him on the flight, but he seemed to do ok. He was very active on the flight. He didn’t want to sit still at all. He didn’t scream. He just fidgeted. The flight attendant gave him some Delta cookies that kept him busy for a while. They were extremely messy, but worth it for the rest. Nicholas finally fell asleep during the descent into Dallas, of course! Our flight got in within minutes of my parent’s flight. Luckily, we came into the same terminal (just a few gates away). So, we just met up at the baggage claim and went to the rental car place together. We stopped at a Whataburger (my first time in ages!) on the way to my Aunt & Uncle’s house. We stayed with my cousin Joe, his wife Jena, and their cute daughter, Kate. Kate will be 3 in December. They live in Allen, TX. Nicholas loved his cousin Kate :0) He especially loved playing with her and her fun toys.

On Friday, we went to the 6th Floor Museum in Dallas. It is not really a great place for kids, but Nick & Kate did great. It was an interesting place to visit (not really too uplifting though). Then we all went to the Spaghetti Warehouse for lunch. While we were there, Nicholas finally got his foot all the way into his mouth. Very exciting, I know!

10 Month Pictures

Here are Nick's 10 month pictures. John went with us this time (he hasn't been since Nick's 1 month session). Nicholas was not too interested in getting his picture taken this time! He wouldn't sit still at all. Part of me wonders if he was showing off for his dad! Anyway, I think they turned out ok for all of the drama :0)

Nick's 1st Haircut!!

Nicholas turned 10 months yesterday and had his very first haircut today!!! I wasn’t sure if I was ready for him to get his hair cut, but he really needed it. His hair was growing so far over his ears! I found a place called Cookie Cutters that does kids haircuts. When I called they said that they take babies, so we took Nick in. Cookie Cutters is very cute. They have a play area and video games (perfect for John…haha!) in the waiting area. The chairs are various fun things for kids. We chose to have Nicholas sit in the airplane chair in honor of his Grandpa Beckman :0) We also got to choose a movie for Nick to watch, so we chose a Baby Einstein. I wasn’t sure how Nicholas would react to getting his hair cut, but he did great. He tried to grab the comb, scissors, etc. and eat them! But, other than that, he just sat there and watched his movie and looked around. They blew bubbles for him, so he tried to catch and eat them :0) When she used the clippers, Nicholas tried to see what was making the noise. A toddler came in and sat behind us. He had the loudest temper tantrum, but Nick didn’t even care. He was too busy with all the fun stuff going on around him. Usually, he gets really upset when he hears other kids crying. I was glad he didn’t really notice. Everyone in Cookie Cutters was amazed at how well Nicholas did They gave him a blue balloon when he was done. He LOVES it!! It has a turkey cookie cutter attached to the bottom. Nick looks so cute with his new “big boy” hair cut :0) We're taking him for his 10 month pictures today, so check back for those picture soon!

Utah Jazz Game

We went to the Utah Jazz scrimmage tonight with our friends, Stephanie & Kris. Nicholas got to have his picture taken with Andrei Kirilenko!!!! Andrei is one of my favorite players. He was so funny with Nick :0) Nicholas also got to have his picture taken with the Jazz mascot, Bear. He loved the bear and was laughing and grabbing his fur! After the game, we went to a sporting goods store and checked out some snowboards for Nick ;0) Gotta get some rest while I can...I'll write more on the next entry!

Halloween Cosutme Photo Shoot

Nicholas had his Halloween costume photo shoot today :0) I took him early so I could get his pictures mailed out before Halloween. My mom and dad got him his two cute costumes, of course! I am surprised it was only two ;0) HAHA We’ll be going back next Friday for his 10 month pictures!! AHHHH…10 months already…I can’t believe it! Nick was up all night and had fallen asleep on the way to Sears, so it took a while to get him smiling! He was exhausted!! He also hasn’t been as into his photo shoots since Marcy left. The new girls have been able to get some good pictures, but Marcy had such a way with him! She always got great pictures no matter what mood he was in. I think we got a real good Nicholas smile on the last picture today. But, have no fear; I am sure I will take a FEW pictures of him at our parties and on Halloween ;0)

Here are some things I forgot to mention in my last entry:

John took Nicholas & I to the Hogle Zoo on our Anniversary! Nicholas loved seeing all of the animals and riding the train :0) He had such a fun time with his Daddy and being outside. Nick went to a casting call for American Baby Magazine. He had his picture taken by a photographer of the magazine. They took a Polaroid! I thought they would have at least taken a professional shot! I would have taken some of his head shots if I knew they were taking Polaroids ;0) HAHA John said that maybe it is better that they did take a Polaroid. He says that Nicholas looks cute in any pictures, so that will show how photogenic he is. HAHA Aren’t we such proud parents!? If he is chosen, he’ll be on the cover!! So we’re waiting to hear on that. Nicholas has gotten two more teeth. He got the top left front tooth and the right side tooth. So, he has a nice gap in between his top teeth! He kinda looks like a Nick-o-Lantern ;0) The other two top teeth (left side and right front) look like they are going to brake through the gums any day now . John, Nicholas, & I are meeting up with my parents in Texas in 2 weeks :0) We are going to visit my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins. We have not seen them for SO long, so I am really excited to see everyone!! Hope everyone is doing well. I hope to write more soon! Take care :0)

Here's What's Going On With Us

We have been pretty busy here these days! Nicholas is keeping me moving all the time. We moved some furniture and gated in the back part of the house. So, he has free roam and more room to explore. He loves it! He crawls non-stop and stands up to check things out. He loves to look out the windows just like his brother. Nick is still the star student in his Kindermusik class. He really loves all of the different instruments that he gets to play. He isn’t too great at sitting still in the circle; he is more into going and saying “hi” to all of his friends. Last class, he attacked the doll that Ms. Nancy uses to demonstrate activities with during a song. Then a few of his friends joined in on the attack!

Nicholas is still doing great with gymnastics. He did a handstand on the floor bars this week. He also did the rope swing and mini rollercoaster (they put him on a riding toy and had him go down the slide. They were holding on to him, of course!)! He did the obstacle course without much help from me. There was a new little boy in our class who was 5 months. Nicholas liked playing with him. We had a make up class last Saturday. There were quite a few baby girls in the class, so Nicholas was busy flirting with them. He even rolled on top of one of them while they had “parent separation” time. She didn’t seem to mind and he just continued eating his toy. It was pretty funny! The class before that, he got to ride on the cool train. He was afraid of it. He didn’t like the sounds that it made. He was checking out the smoke stack and Zachary pushed the button to make the engine “toot”. Nick’s reaction was the best reaction I have ever seen! The poor guy was pretty scared! But, he got over it and the next time he loved the train :0)

Nicholas has been giving us quite the scare with some outbreaks of hives. The first time it happened was last Friday night. He had gotten himself worked up over something (I had just tried to give him some formula for the first time). We noticed the hives all over his face and I called the Pedia Call answering service. As I was talking to the doctor, Nicholas started having trouble breathing. We couldn’t tell if it was because he was so worked up, or the reaction. So, we rushed to the nearest after hours emergency care. Of course, they closed early. There is one the next intersection, so we rushed there. They closed at 10:00 and we got there a minute or two after. Even with people still in the waiting area, they wouldn’t let me in! So, we got back in the car and headed to the hospital. On the way there, Nick fell asleep. His breathing got back to normal and his hives cleared up. So, I called Pedia Call and told them what happened. She suggested we let him sleep and monitor him through the night. That would be no problem; I wasn’t going to be getting any sleep anyway! He woke up around 2:00 and went back to sleep in my arms. We didn’t have any issues Saturday. He got the hives only on Sunday after sitting in the glass. So, I called his Pediatrician and took him in yesterday. He checked him out and couldn’t determine a cause for the outbreaks. He told me to give him Benadryl if it happens again. He got hives again during dinner last night and breakfast this morning. So, looks like Nicholas will be going in for some allergy testing soon.

Well, I hope everyone is doing well! I am going to get some rest; I had quite the fun medical procedure today! Take care and I will try to write more soon!
