The Easter Egg Hunt

Well, Nicholas fell asleep right before the Easter Egg Hunt began! But, I took pictures anyway :0) He woke up at the end of the Hunt, but wasn’t too cooperative for pictures since he just woke up. Once he was up and happy, Nick had fun playing with the other children. It was fun to see him interact with other babies and children. He is very social already (where do you think that he gets that from!? Definitely his Daddy…haha :0) He was talking and laughing up a storm with the other kids. Enjoy the pictures of Nicholas at the Easter Egg Hunt :0)

HAVE A HAPPY EASTER :0)

4 Months Tomorrow!!

Like Father, Like Son :0)
Well…my parents came into town yesterday. They are headed to Las Vegas right now to look at houses :0) Anyway, Nicholas enjoyed his day with his Grandparents and he’s glad they’ll be back in time for his first Easter!! Nick is doing great…just growing and laughing more and more. He is still getting up a few times during the night to eat. Hopefully, he’ll go back to sleeping through the night again soon :0) Nicholas is staying up more during the day and he is really getting into playing with his toys. He also loves when I read to him (good thing too…I have thousands of books from my classroom in the basement!! HAHA) and he likes to watch some TV too. He seems to like the colors and movements on the TV. He really loves The Price is Right with all the blinking lights!

I, on the other hand, am having MORE medical issues! We are waiting to get my test results from my liver issue back (I am not sure if I have mentioned it before). Basically, my liver functions have been elevated since Nicholas was born. It is odd that they weren't elevated when I had PIH/Toxemia, but they are now. Oh well! I just found out yesterday that I have to have surgery on my finger (the one I hurt when I fell UP the stairs…remember that story!?)!!!! I guess I broke my finger and then part of the bone chipped off and is stuck in my knuckle. So, I can’t straighten it. Yep, I am walking around with my middle finger sticking up…haha! I am not very happy about having surgery, but I guess I should get it fixed. It will just be interesting having surgery and recovering with an infant!!!
I am taking Nick for his 4 month pictures tomorrow, so I am sure that I will post some tomorrow or the next day. Hope everyone is doing well :0) Since that it is hard to type with a broken finger…I’ll write more later!

Nick Loves New York :0)

Nicholas is almost 4 months!! I don’t even know where the time has gone! He is getting bigger and CUTER every day :0) He is talking, laughing, and playing more and more. Nick has also started to notice Jackson more. He smiles at him and is starting to reach out for him. Of course, Jackson loves the attention :0) My parents are coming in on Tuesday, so I am sure that we will have tons of pictures to post from their visit and especially Nick’s first Easter:0) Nick’s Aunt Morgan (who lives in NYC) sent him a few outfits so I took some pics of him in one today. He really doesn't like getting his picture taken...can't you tell ;0)
More soon…

You Know I Had To :0)

I bet you were expecting this since I could not take Nick to see Santa since he was only a few days old!! I took Nicholas to see the Easter Bunny yesterday! He loved the bunny...he just laughed and laughed :0)

Our Talented 16-Week Old :0)

Disclaimer: (Kris…this is for you!!!) As you all know, I LOVE my husband! He was nothing but WONDERFUL throughout the entire pregnancy, my 3 weeks of bed rest, and everyday since Nicholas was born. He also gets up everyday and goes to work, so I can stay home with Nick!!! But, he does some things that I feel are worthy of being posted on the blog. Keep in mind I post the dumb things that I do on here too! That being said…here is a funny (not meant to be snide at ALL) “John” story.

Nicholas was having a rough day yesterday. He is going through another growth-spurt, so he was quite clingy and didn’t want to be put down at all. So, John took him for a bit when he got home to give me a break. We took turns holding Nicholas all night. John went to change Nick and then brought him out in the living room. Nick was freaking out!!!

Ok, so here is what I was told by John about the crying situation and then I will tell you what REALLY happened :0) Hopefully, it isn’t too hard to follow!!

This is what John said when he came out with a screaming Nicholas, “Can you take Nicholas for a bit to see if you can calm him down? You are so great with him!!! You can always get him to calm down.” I asked what happened and John said, “He just started freaking out!” So, of course, I took my baby and did my thing, and calmed him down. I should have noticed that it took longer than usual to calm him down!! Meanwhile, John took Jackson out for quite the long playtime. Once Nick was asleep, John wanted him back. He loves to hold him when he is sleeping peacefully (thanks to me…remember!?)!!

So, this is what I find out later in the night…

John had taken Nicholas to his room to change him. John had Nick sitting up in his crib. Apparently, Nick spazzed out and fell back and bounced his head off his mattress. Now, you might be wondering like me, why wasn’t John holding Nicholas well enough that he wouldn’t fall!? That is a good question...HAHA! I mean, I have never let Nicholas fall off the couch or anything!!! Also, what possessed John to come out and act as if he had NO IDEA why Nick was freaking out!? Oooohhhh John!!! He is quite sneaky!!!

Nicholas has recovered well from his incident last night. I put him in his crib when I took Jackson out this morning. See…I have learned my lesson about leaving him on the couch!!! When I came inside, Nick was just talking away in his crib. So, I decided that I would try to eat my breakfast. Then, it got silent. Sometimes, this means that he has rolled over onto his stomach. So, I went in to check on Nicholas. I found him turned around and playing (well eating really) with his animals. He loves to put everything in his mouth for a taste these days :0) Of course, I took some pictures for you all to enjoy! More soon…

Our 15 Week Old Little BOY!!!

So…Nicholas is 15 weeks old now! I wonder when I will stop counting by weeks!? Maybe at 6 months...a year!? Ehhh…who knows!? HAHA Guess how Nick and I spent his 15 week birthday yesterday!? I am sure some of you have already guessed correctly. For those of you who can’t guess right away, here are some choices: A. Relaxing at home B. Getting more pictures taken C. At the Pediatrician’s office. Now, I realize that two of the choices are quite reasonable. But, if you truly know me, you’ll know that the answer is of course, C!!! I do take Nicholas to get his pictures taken quite a bit, but we go on the 13th of every month.

Ok, back to the latest doctor’s visit. Nick had been coughing for a few days and surprisingly, I didn’t freak out. But, then he started coughing non-stop yesterday and kind of choking a bit. When I was holding him, I could feel his breathing seemed kind of labored and I could feel it in his back. So, I called the Pediatrician and they wanted me to bring him in to rule out RSV. Nicholas weighed 14 lbs. 5 oz. yesterday, so even with his non-stop projectile spit-up, he is getting food somehow! After the doctor and I discussed that yes, it was possible that Nicholas had gotten cuter since he’d seen him last, he took a look at him. Nicholas just smiled at everyone and put in his 2 cents about his health. Luckily, in the end, it was determined that Nick just has a head cold and not RSV. As I was leaving the Pediatrician’s office, he suggested that I bring John with me to Nick’s 4 month appointment since Nick will be getting more shots!! Ahhh, he knows me too well. Nick’s Pediatrician and my OB are friends and they have breakfast every Tuesday. From what I hear, they swap Alex stories quite often! At least I can keep them entertained :0)

Other than his cold, Nicholas is doing great :0) He just talks and smiles up storm these days. And, if I do say so myself, he has the cutest smile and laugh I have ever seen/heard!! I guess Nick is going through another growth spurt...he is an eating machine!!! He has even started getting up twice a night to eat! He was sleeping through the night, so as you can imagine, I am not too happy about him getting up twice a night now!!! But, Nick will just flash one of his huge, goofy smiles at me and I forget about being so tired (most of the time :0)!! John gets real upset when Nicholas gets up in the middle of the night too. I don't really understand why, since he is alseep again before I get out the bedroom door to get Nick!!! More soon…

P.S. I am STILL looking for some comments here on the Blog!!!

Visit with Aunt and Uncles :0)

Nicholas and Jackson's Aunt Missy and Uncles Bill and Dan came into town for a visit :0) Nicholas had just started a nice high-pitch scream a few days before they got here, so that made for some good laughs! Everyone got to witness some nice projectile spit-ups too!! They also got to see some of Nick's famous fake crying to get what he wants!! Nick loves his Aunt Missy and Uncle Dan and has quite the special relationship with his Uncle Bill :0) As you can tell Jackson had a blast with his Aunt and Uncles as well :0) It was a fun visit, but too short! Nicholas can’t wait for everyone to come visit him again!!

World's Cutest Jazz Fan :0)

We took Nicholas to his first Utah Jazz game last night!! He was a very popular little guy :0) He wore his cute Jazz outfit. Nick was very well-behaved. I was nervous becuase I lost his binky on the way to the game and forgot the back-up! But, we didn't have any problems. He was smiling up a storm. He didn't sleep more than 10 minutes...there was too much going on that he needed to be a part of!!

Reflux Aftermath!!!

Ok…so as you may know I am a Scrapbooker. And Scrapbookers document EVERYTHING. Here are some pictures that I took of my dad and Nicholas after one of Nick’s famous reflux episodes! Yes, I made my poor dad pose for pictures before he could clean himself up…HAHA!!! Please take notice to the chair and floor as well!! Poor little Nicholas too, his reflux is not getting any better!

Nick's Baptism

Our little Nicholas was baptized today. My dad and John’s brother, Bill, flew in for it. My mom was not able to get off school and the tickets were way expensive for anyone else to come in. Bill is Nick’s Godfather and my friends Kristie Suchar (in the pics) and Jordan Edgley are his Godmothers. The ceremony was very nice. Nicholas was so well-behaved the whole time. There wasn’t a peep out of him. I thought for sure that he would cry when the water was put on him, but he smiled instead. After he was baptized, the congregation sang a song welcoming Nicholas and Pastor Mike carried him around the church for the congregation to meet him. It was really cute…Nick just kept smiling at the people. Lots of people came up to us after mass to tell us how beautiful Nicholas is (tell me something I don’t know…haha) and that he had smiled at them :0) We had a nice reception at our house after. Except for Nicholas outgrowing his Baptism outfit and the new one not coming in, the day went on with out any trauma. Hope you enjoy the pics!!! My dad took a lot more...I will post them when he sends them to me.

P.S. Please see the St. Patrick's entry for a serious annoncement!! HAHA

Nicholas is 3 Months :0)

Ok, it is really ridiculous that Nicholas is 3 months old! I just can’t handle it!!! I was looking at his pictures from when he was born and when we brought him home and I couldn’t believe how tiny he was!! He seems HUGE now. He is starting to become more interested in playing with things and he is awake more. He’ll even sit still for a whole book now and he likes to look at the pictures :0) He also seems to like the TV, so we watch a Baby Einstein once and a while too. Nick’s baptism is this Sunday. I’ll post some pictures of him in his cute outfit next week.

Nicholas is really beginning to smile up a storm :0) He smiles so much at John, Jackson, and I. He is starting to laugh too. Can you imagine how cute that is!? HAHA I know you may find this very hard to believe, but I am beginning to think that Nick is a little spoiled and already manipulating me! He seems to need to be held all the time. In the beginning I didn’t mind it, but now he is heavier and sometimes my back needs a rest. But, he is very good a guilt trips and I give in and hold him! One morning John brought Nicholas in to our bed before he left for work. I guess Nick decided it was time to get up. So, he started talking to himself. When I didn’t get up, he started talking and laughing louder. When I still did not get up, he let out this loud FAKE cry. I knew it was fake because it sounded more like a “MOO” really. So, I opened my eyes and Nicholas clasped his hands together with joy and started laughing and squealing! So, I decided to close my eyes again and see what happened. He immediately mooed :0) When I opened my eyes again, he smiled and laughed again. It was so funny! Do you think it could be possible that my son already knows how to work me and get what he wants!? I am open to your comments on this matter :0)

12 Weeks...Really!?

First, let me say that I am never going to say that I will try to have some trauma for my next entry to entertain you!! 2 days after I said that…there was PLENTY of trauma between Nicholas and I. It all began when I decided to do some laundry (I knew there was a reason I wasn’t doing any!!!). Luckily, I asked John to hold the baby while I went downstairs to do the laundry!! On my way back up, I fell UP the stairs. Yes, you read that right, I fell UP the stairs!!! Have any of you ever done that!? Well, it sure does hurt! As I was falling, I jammed my 3 middle fingers into the stairs. I heard a lot of cracking and felt a ton of pain! I was sure that my fingers were broken. They started swelling and turning all different shades of blue. At first, I could not bend them, but eventually I could. They still hurt a lot and it makes it hard to get some things done with Nicholas. I never realized how much I used those 3 fingers!!!

The same day I fell UP the stairs, Nicholas had some trauma of his own. Yes, we all knew it was bound to happen AGAIN…HE ROLLED OFF THE COUCH!! Now, I know you all are wondering how I did not learn my lesson the first time. But, I assure you I did! I always take Nick to his crib when I am doing anything that is not in the same room (even though I was sitting right next to him last time). This time, I thought I could make it to the bathroom without him moving. But, I was wrong. As I started down the hall, I heard the dreaded THUD. Jackson came running to get me and when I got back in the living room, there was Nicholas on the floor! He was still asleep with his binky in this time, but I still felt horrible. I scooped him up and did not put him down again the rest of the day. I didn’t cry this time, but I did call John telling him how bad of a mother I am.

After the fall off the couch, we had to go to the mall to pick up Nick’s pictures. John was joking that I needed to not get hurt. But, oh yes, I got injured at the mall! I really can’t stand the moms that don’t watch their children (and NO, I am not going to be one of them…I am going to have COMPLETE control over Nicholas :0). There were some children running up and down the “Ladies Lounge” in Nordstrom. One of them so kindly slammed the door on my already hurt and bruised fingers! After I let out a loud scream, the mom got the idea and got her kids away from me!!! And I decided it was time to go home and get in bed.

Nicholas is doing great. He is right in the middle of a big growth-spurt. He is 15 lbs. and 24 inches!!! He is growing more and more everyday. I am not sure if he is going to fit in his Baptism outfit on the 19th. John, Jackson, and I are all doing well too. I posted some recent pictures of Nick for you to enjoy :0) Hope you enjoyed the stories of our trauma. I don’t plan on having anymore to share anytime soon (we’ll see if this reverse psychology works ;0)!!! Take care. More soon…
