World's Cutest Jazz Fan :0)

We took Nicholas to his first Utah Jazz game last night!! He was a very popular little guy :0) He wore his cute Jazz outfit. Nick was very well-behaved. I was nervous becuase I lost his binky on the way to the game and forgot the back-up! But, we didn't have any problems. He was smiling up a storm. He didn't sleep more than 10 minutes...there was too much going on that he needed to be a part of!!

Reflux Aftermath!!!

Ok…so as you may know I am a Scrapbooker. And Scrapbookers document EVERYTHING. Here are some pictures that I took of my dad and Nicholas after one of Nick’s famous reflux episodes! Yes, I made my poor dad pose for pictures before he could clean himself up…HAHA!!! Please take notice to the chair and floor as well!! Poor little Nicholas too, his reflux is not getting any better!

Nick's Baptism

Our little Nicholas was baptized today. My dad and John’s brother, Bill, flew in for it. My mom was not able to get off school and the tickets were way expensive for anyone else to come in. Bill is Nick’s Godfather and my friends Kristie Suchar (in the pics) and Jordan Edgley are his Godmothers. The ceremony was very nice. Nicholas was so well-behaved the whole time. There wasn’t a peep out of him. I thought for sure that he would cry when the water was put on him, but he smiled instead. After he was baptized, the congregation sang a song welcoming Nicholas and Pastor Mike carried him around the church for the congregation to meet him. It was really cute…Nick just kept smiling at the people. Lots of people came up to us after mass to tell us how beautiful Nicholas is (tell me something I don’t know…haha) and that he had smiled at them :0) We had a nice reception at our house after. Except for Nicholas outgrowing his Baptism outfit and the new one not coming in, the day went on with out any trauma. Hope you enjoy the pics!!! My dad took a lot more...I will post them when he sends them to me.

P.S. Please see the St. Patrick's entry for a serious annoncement!! HAHA

Nicholas is 3 Months :0)

Ok, it is really ridiculous that Nicholas is 3 months old! I just can’t handle it!!! I was looking at his pictures from when he was born and when we brought him home and I couldn’t believe how tiny he was!! He seems HUGE now. He is starting to become more interested in playing with things and he is awake more. He’ll even sit still for a whole book now and he likes to look at the pictures :0) He also seems to like the TV, so we watch a Baby Einstein once and a while too. Nick’s baptism is this Sunday. I’ll post some pictures of him in his cute outfit next week.

Nicholas is really beginning to smile up a storm :0) He smiles so much at John, Jackson, and I. He is starting to laugh too. Can you imagine how cute that is!? HAHA I know you may find this very hard to believe, but I am beginning to think that Nick is a little spoiled and already manipulating me! He seems to need to be held all the time. In the beginning I didn’t mind it, but now he is heavier and sometimes my back needs a rest. But, he is very good a guilt trips and I give in and hold him! One morning John brought Nicholas in to our bed before he left for work. I guess Nick decided it was time to get up. So, he started talking to himself. When I didn’t get up, he started talking and laughing louder. When I still did not get up, he let out this loud FAKE cry. I knew it was fake because it sounded more like a “MOO” really. So, I opened my eyes and Nicholas clasped his hands together with joy and started laughing and squealing! So, I decided to close my eyes again and see what happened. He immediately mooed :0) When I opened my eyes again, he smiled and laughed again. It was so funny! Do you think it could be possible that my son already knows how to work me and get what he wants!? I am open to your comments on this matter :0)

12 Weeks...Really!?

First, let me say that I am never going to say that I will try to have some trauma for my next entry to entertain you!! 2 days after I said that…there was PLENTY of trauma between Nicholas and I. It all began when I decided to do some laundry (I knew there was a reason I wasn’t doing any!!!). Luckily, I asked John to hold the baby while I went downstairs to do the laundry!! On my way back up, I fell UP the stairs. Yes, you read that right, I fell UP the stairs!!! Have any of you ever done that!? Well, it sure does hurt! As I was falling, I jammed my 3 middle fingers into the stairs. I heard a lot of cracking and felt a ton of pain! I was sure that my fingers were broken. They started swelling and turning all different shades of blue. At first, I could not bend them, but eventually I could. They still hurt a lot and it makes it hard to get some things done with Nicholas. I never realized how much I used those 3 fingers!!!

The same day I fell UP the stairs, Nicholas had some trauma of his own. Yes, we all knew it was bound to happen AGAIN…HE ROLLED OFF THE COUCH!! Now, I know you all are wondering how I did not learn my lesson the first time. But, I assure you I did! I always take Nick to his crib when I am doing anything that is not in the same room (even though I was sitting right next to him last time). This time, I thought I could make it to the bathroom without him moving. But, I was wrong. As I started down the hall, I heard the dreaded THUD. Jackson came running to get me and when I got back in the living room, there was Nicholas on the floor! He was still asleep with his binky in this time, but I still felt horrible. I scooped him up and did not put him down again the rest of the day. I didn’t cry this time, but I did call John telling him how bad of a mother I am.

After the fall off the couch, we had to go to the mall to pick up Nick’s pictures. John was joking that I needed to not get hurt. But, oh yes, I got injured at the mall! I really can’t stand the moms that don’t watch their children (and NO, I am not going to be one of them…I am going to have COMPLETE control over Nicholas :0). There were some children running up and down the “Ladies Lounge” in Nordstrom. One of them so kindly slammed the door on my already hurt and bruised fingers! After I let out a loud scream, the mom got the idea and got her kids away from me!!! And I decided it was time to go home and get in bed.

Nicholas is doing great. He is right in the middle of a big growth-spurt. He is 15 lbs. and 24 inches!!! He is growing more and more everyday. I am not sure if he is going to fit in his Baptism outfit on the 19th. John, Jackson, and I are all doing well too. I posted some recent pictures of Nick for you to enjoy :0) Hope you enjoyed the stories of our trauma. I don’t plan on having anymore to share anytime soon (we’ll see if this reverse psychology works ;0)!!! Take care. More soon…

This Is What Happens When John Doesn't Go To Nick's Photo Shoot

HAHAHAHA John was not at Nick's last photo shoot! Let's just say that he is not sending me alone again! HAHA These aren't even the worst ones! I did not order any of the ridiculous ones, but I thought you would get a kick out of these. WOW...at least I can see how bad those were now and I will know better for the next photo shoot!!! As you can tell from the one picture, Nicholas decided the shoot was over when he was placed in the giant candy box!!!!

Our Baby Supermodel

I am sorry I haven’t written for a while. I just can’t seem to find the time these days!! I am either spending time with Nicholas or trying to catch up on things while he sleeps. I can’t believe that Nicholas is going on 11 weeks. It is crazy how time flies when you are spending time with the cutest baby :0) I haven’t had Nick in to the doctor recently, and we haven’t had any trauma at home either!!! This must be so boring for you all! I will have to see if I can stir up some drama for the next time I write :0)

I love being able to stay home with Nicholas :0) I love (most) every minute of it. Of course, some days are easier, but I am still glad that I am there for him on his hard days. He has been pretty inconsistent with his sleeping habits recently. For the past few days he has slept really well though. I think I finally figured out what he is comfortable sleeping in. It also seems that he might be going through a growth spurt. I will be so happy when he is consistently sleeping through the night.

I am taking Nicholas for pictures every month. When I took him for his 2 month photo shoot, they asked if they could enter him into a contest for his picture to be on their brochure and/or website. I asked what took them so long to realize his talent (haha) and said that they could of course enter him. We got a free framed portrait study just for Nick being entered into the contest. I will have to let you know how that goes. Yesterday, I took Nicholas to Old Navy. The manager commented on how cute Nick was (yeah, tell me something I don’t know…haha) and then asked if I had considered modeling for him. She thought he would be great in their Ads. She then showed Nicholas a bear that they had. He smiled so big and SO CUTE that she gave him the bear! WOW…this baby isn’t spoiled is he!? I mean everywhere I go they are asking if I want him to be a baby supermodel and give him free stuff! I have decided to teach Nicholas to smile when he sees diamonds now :0) I might as well use his super-cuteness to my advantage!!!

My "sister" Sara Moran had her baby boy, Brennen Michael Moran, on February 24th. He was 8 lbs. 7 oz. and 20.5 in. Nicholas can't wait to meet his cousin when we go home this summer :0)

The pictures were taken after Nicholas had taken his bath. Doesn’t he have quite the hairstyle after his bath!? Take care and keep in touch! More soon…

Our 2 Month Old!!

Some days I can't believe how old Nicholas looks. Then, I remember that he is 2 months old now!! I just wanted to post some recent pictures. Believe it or not, I don't have too much to say right now...I am too exhausted!! I am sure I will have one of my "Crazy" stories soon! Take care :0)

Oh Dear!!!

Hmmmm…I did not really prepare myself well enough for Nick’s trauma of getting his 2 month shots!!! I was beginning my freak out driving over there. Nicholas was sound asleep…the poor little guy had no idea what was in store for him!! When we arrived at the doctor’s office, I decided to pull out his immunization chart to see how many he was getting today. Imagine my surprise to see that he was getting 5!!! Pure panic set in for me and oddly enough it was right then that Nicholas woke up screaming (are we connected or what!?)!!! The nurse told me that is was only 3 pokes since some immunizations were in the same shot. She also reminded me that Nicholas did just fine when he was poked in the foot so many times for his Jaundice tests. He just let out a quiet squawk and was fine after that. So, she thought he would do fine. I know she told me that to calm me down, but it did not work. Then, I was curious why some immunizations were in the same shot! Were they just trying to save money!? Are they actually giving him his immunizations or just placebos!? Is this legal!? I almost passed out thinking about it!!!

When we were called back and Nick settled down. He was just talking and smiling (some may call it babbling, but I know that he is talking to me :0) away while he was measured and weighed. He was 22 inches long and weighed 11 pounds 14 ounces! Whew…at least the boy is still growing even with his Reflux and projectile spitting up!! Nick also did fine when he was being checked over by the doctor. He loves his doctor :0) Then…dun dun dun…Nicholas started to get suspicious (or just wanted to be held). The nurse came in with his shots. Why was the nurse doing the shots!? Is she qualified to administer them!? Should I ask for her credentials!? Is this how they are saving their money with the combined shots!? HAHA Ok…I didn’t really think all of that. It was more for your entertainment! The nurse asked me to hold Nicholas down. Was this really the best idea!? I was barely holding myself together. So, I held his arms and was telling him it was all going to be ok. He started to get suspicious again, so he started crying. Then, POKE…Nick let out the loudest SCREAM that I have ever heard from him! I, of course, began sobbing!! I said, “I thought you said he’d do fine!” The nurse looked at me and knew that she needed to be careful what she said to me now. She told me that last time Nicholas was just poked. This time, there was cold immunizations (didn’t she mean placebos!?) going into him. So, Nicholas and I had to deal with 2 more pokes! Neither of us handled them very well at all!!! MY POOR BABY :0( I scooped him up and just loved him!!! As, I was comforting my poor baby, the nurse informed me that is it common for babies to be fussy and have a fever for up to 2 days after their shots. She also told me to give him Tylenol every 4 hours for the next 2 days. Thank goodness I stocked up on Baby Tylenol last time I was shopping!!! GREAT…just what I (I mean Nicholas :0) needs! More things to be stressed out and crazy about!!

Nick and I cried the whole way home! He calmed down when I picked him up and he got Cherry flavored Tylenol. He really seems to love cherry flavoring! Needless to say, I will not be putting him down for the next 2 days (yes, I am holding him while typing this…that is why it is taking so long!)!! He just needs to be snuggled and loved by his Mommy (or is it me that needs to be snuggled and loved by my baby!?)!! I wonder if I will get less CRAZY as time goes on!? But, if I do, there will be no more “Crazy Mommy” stories to share with all of you!!! I can tell that you all are praying that I will stay crazy (and there is a pretty good chance that will happen…I have been like this for 27 years!!!)!!!

Yes…I took some pictures at the doctor for Nick’s scrapbook. At least I did not take them of him getting his shots!!! Take care.

8 Weeks Already!?

Wow! 8 weeks already!? I really cannot handle this Nick growing up thing!!! I spent a long time writing a 7 week entry, but it got erased! I was so frustrated, that I had to take a few days to recuperate. John’s parents just left today. They came in for a long weekend. We had a nice time with them. I don’t think that Nicholas was put down for longer than 2 minutes :0)

Nicholas and I had quite the week last week. Do you sense one of my famous stories coming on here!? Where oh where do I begin!? It was a day like any other (haha…Tuesday to be exact!) and Nicholas and I were sitting on the couch. He was crying because his Reflux was bothering him and it was time to eat. So, I was getting myself ready to feed him and Nicholas was lying next to me. Then, all of a sudden, I hear a loud thud followed by even louder screaming. Nick had rolled off of the couch! Now, I knew that he could roll from his belly to his back, but I had never seen him roll from his back to his belly. Apparently, he can do it! The poor little guy was staring at me like, “How could you let this happen!?” or at least that is how I interpreted it!! So, I immediately began sobbing (very helpful in this situation I tell ya!). I scooped Nicholas up in my arms and did the first thing that came to mind. I called John! So, poor John is at work doing his thing. Then, he gets a call from his crazy wife who is crying hysterically! He was trying to hear what I was saying, but it was impossible due to Nick and I crying. Once he heard what I said…he asked if I had called the Pediatrician. Hmmm…now there is an idea!

I was so embarrassed…I had just gotten off the phone with the nurse about Nick’s Reflux and set up an appointment for the next day! So, I tried to pull myself together and I called the doctor. When the receptionist asked who she could tell the nurse was calling, I replied, “The World’s WORST Mother!” By the time the nurse got on, I was out of control again. Once she could make out what I was saying, she told me how to check Nicholas for injuries. Once he checked out, she said that I could take him to the hospital to be checked out if I wanted to, but she thought he was fine. And, I was taking him in the next day. Of course I wanted to take him to the hospital, but I did not want to be accused of child abuse!!! So, I decided to call John and request that he leave work and come home early to take care of the baby since I obviously could not! I had also gotten myself so worked up that I was throwing up!!! Being the wonderful husband and father that John is, he came home. He walked in the door laughing because Nicholas was asleep and I was still sitting there sobbing!! His laughing did not help the situation, but at least he came home :0) John checked Nick out and said he was fine, so I felt a little bit better. I still cried for the rest of the day, but at least I knew Nick was going to be ok!

The doctor checked him out the next day, and said that he was just fine. He also informed me that it was not my fault that Nicholas fell and this kind of thing happens all the time! I really love Nick’s Pediatrician! Not only does he love Nick, but he always reassures me and tells me that I am doing a wonderful job with Nicholas! Just so you know, the last time I wrote this story and it was erased…it sounded much better and funnier! It was fresher in my mind!!

We go to the doctor tomorrow for Nick’s 2 month check-up. He’ll be getting his shots, so I am preparing myself already. Make sure to check back…I’ll probably have a story about having to be restrained while Nicholas just sat there and got his shots without even crying!!! More soon…

Nicholas is 6 weeks old :0)

Wahooo! Nicholas is 6 weeks old today :0) He is growing like a weed (a very CUTE weed that is)!! He looks so big in his bassinet now. When we first got him home, he looked so tiny in it!! He has started sleeping the first part of the night in his crib in his very CUTE nursery. He looks so small in his crib...yeaaaa...I can hold on a bit longer :0) Once he wakes up at 4 AM (I really hope he gets back to sleeping until 7 AM soon!!), he doesn't go down too well in his crib, so he comes back to his bassinet in our room. It is a much shorter walk to put his binky back in his mouth when he is in our room!! I still can't figure out why he spits out his binky so much at night if he wants it in!!

Nicholas is rolling over a lot now. He has also started to push himself up with his legs from sitting when we are holding him on our laps. His doctor says that he is really strong. He is quite the fighter when we are changing him or trying to dress him...haha.

The pictures above were taken during a 4 AM photoshoot after Nick's feeding last night. He just looked so cute in his "Swaddle Me" blanket (huge lifesaver :0) that I had to take his picture! He is used to me taking his picture by now, but I still felt bad doing it at 4 AM. He looks like a little burrito and/or cocoon :0) His blanket sort of reminds me of a straight jacket, but he loves it! He was getting out when I would swaddle him on my own and then waking up more. I did not plan his outfit to match so well, that was just pure luck! Even his binky matched...haha! More soon...

Poor Nick has Reflux :0(

Now...you might wonder how much I can write about Nicholas having Reflux. Let's remember who we are dealing with here! Shall I start from the beginning? Ok, a few weeks ago, Nicholas started spitting up what looked like everything he had just eaten. He was doing it after every feeding. I was good at first, I didn't even call the doctor right away! After it had gone on a few weeks, I decided to call and see if this was normal. They said to give it another week and if it did not stop, I they wanted to see him. Well...it did not stop. So, I took Nick in last week. The doctor told me that he wanted me to take Nick to Primary Children's Hospital to have an "Upper GI" x-ray done. Believe it or not, I did not freak out. He had already had an x-ray when we took him to the ER, so I was cool with it. I even told John that I could take him by myself. Wow...I was being so grown up about it :0)

So, the day of the "x-ray" came and I was still feeling pretty good about it. I should have known things were going to be stressful when Nicholas cried the whole way to the hostptal. It was really unusual, he usually falls asleep right away right when we start driving. Then, I could not figure out how to get to the hospital (it is not the one where he was born). The final sign that things were not going to be as easy as I thought was when the technician and doctor came out to get us for the "x-ray". These were their exact words, "Should we wait for your husband?" When I said that John was not coming and they looked at each other with horror, I knew I was in for it. Then, they asked if anyone I know could come to the hospital within the next few minutes. They told me that most moms have a hard time with this test (at least they said most moms and had not figured out that I am crazier than most moms!!!)! As it turns out, an "Upper GI x-ray" is not just a simple x-ray like I thought. Here is what actually happens...

First, they tied (well...wrapped) Nicholas to a board with ace bandages. Now, I usually have my camera in the diaper bag, but for some reason I did not have it that day. I wish I did so I could just show a picture of what he looked like. But, basically, he looked like a little mummy! They had wrapped his legs down and his arms were wrapped down above his head. They said that he needed to be on the board so they could move him around easily for the test. Needless to say, Nicholas and I did not handle this very well. We were both crying hysterically! After Nick was mummified, things proceeded to get worse. They told me that Nicholas was going to have to drink Barium so we could watch it go through his system. Now, I thought that Nick would not want to drink the nasty Barium, but that boy just started chugging it! The doctor said that is why they ask you not to feed the baby 2 hours before the test...that way they are so hungry that they will eat anything. They even had to slow Nick down...he was going to town on his Barium bottle..haha! After that, Nicholas only cried when they took his Barium away! I, on the other hand, cried for the entire procedure. They were flipping him up and down and all around on the table. It was just too much for me to handle...seeing him all tied up. Really long story short...he has reflux and hopefully he'll grow out of it in a few months!!

The picture is of my boys that night.

Our Little Nicholas is 4 Weeks Old!!!!!

Well...we've made it through the first 4 weeks! Only 2 more until we make it through the toughest time, or so we are told! Nicholas is doing great :0) He has so nicely changed up our routine for me a bit. Now...I change him, feed him on one side, he does some projectile spitting up, then I feed him on the other side, then some more projectile spitting up, then I change him again, he cries and whines for a bit, finally...he sleeps, and then we start all over again! So, that is pretty much what I do all day. John took this week off so I have actually gotten out once or twice. Most of the time we just sit with each other and stare at our perfect, beautiful son and wonder how we created such a masterpiece (haha)!!! We are taking Nicholas for his first professional photography sitting tomorrow. Don't be surprised if you see him on TV soon...I am sure we will be asked if we want him to start baby modeling once they see him!!! More soon...

A little late...SORRY!

Jackson was wondering when I was going to write something about just him since he was here first! So, here it is! Long before Nicholas was born, Jackson went to see Santa! So, here is his picture with Santa from this year :0) Pretty cute, huh!? Jackson is a very good big brother to Nicholas!!! More later...

Nicholas is 3 weeks old :0)

WOW! We can't believe that Nicholas is 3 weeks old now!! The weeks have just flown by! He even looks older! Here are some things that have happened since we last updated. My parents came out for Christmas. We had such a good time until my dad got the flu!! Now as you all know...Jack is the person that is the most excited about Nick next to John and I. So, getting the flu really was horrible for him. He had to stay away from the house for a few days. This wouldn't have been too bad if he lived here, but he only had a few days to begin with.

Then, to make matters worse, the night Jack was able to come back over...We had to take Nicholas to the hospital. Now...let me explain. Nicholas had been pretty fussy all day and he wasn't eating as much as he usually does. When he did eat, he was spitting most of it back up! Then, John noticed that Nick's belly was hard. So, I called his doctor and since it was a Saturday...I was told to call PediaCall. I told them what was going on and they called the on-call doctor and she wanted us to take him in to the hospital. She was mainly concerned with the belly being hard. So, of course I started crying and then we all took him in. My parents and brother waited in the waiting room for hours while we were in the ER with Nicholas. After 1 belly X-ray and 5 hours, we were sent home…everything was fine! John and I were just shocked that it took 17 days of Nicholas being around to take him into the hospital!!! But, it was the doctor that made the ultimate decision for us to go in, so it wasn’t just us freaking out.

Nick is getting so big!! When he was weighed at the hospital, he weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. Earlier that week he was 7 lbs. 13 oz. so he is just growing and growing. It really seems like he is growing everyday!!! John, Jackson, and I are just over the moon with our Nicholas :0) He completes our family (for now…now that we see how cute Nick is, we know we’ll have to have more babies one day! HAHA) perfectly!! He brings us so much joy and happiness on an hourly basis! We really could not be happier :0)

John has been great with helping with EVERYTHING! He cooks, cleans, changes diapers, and takes care of me and the boys :0) He does the occasional pretending that he is asleep when Nicholas cries in the middle of the night, but other than that he has been wonderful. Actually, I must share one thing that he did this past Monday. It was 6 AM and I had been up all night with Nick. I asked if he could change Nick while I got set up to feed him. This was John’s actual response, “I would like to try to get another hour of sleep before I have to get up!!” Then, he turned over and went back to sleep. Now…I can see where you all might think…he had to get up and go to work so let him sleep. But, let me fill you in on the whole story. First, I did not ask John to change Nick in the middle of the night or get up and help calm him down. So, he had gotten a pretty good amount of sleep…unlike me!!! Next, John had off work that day. He was getting up at 7 AM on his own free-will to go play BASKETBALL!!! So, yes, I will never let him live that one down!!! Feel free to post your comments to John about actually saying that to his overly-exhausted and extremely sore wife! Oh, and if you are wondering, John did not get up that morning to help out. Now I can hear some of you asking why I am complaining about one incident where John screwed up when I was bragging earlier about what a great help he is. Well…it was just so ridiculous that I had to share it with all of you. And, believe me, since then…he has been nothing be helpful :0)

I will try to be better about updating the website. I am finally getting used to our daily routine. I change Nicholas, feed him, and then attempt to get some rest! Then, I repeat the process 2 ½ -3 hours later!!! I hope everyone is doing well! I’ll update soon…I promise!
